Iran ‘Daughter’ wins Belgian awards

Iranian director Reza Mirkarimi’s ‘Daughter’ has won four awards in Belgium events.

The movie won the grand prix and the award for best actor in a leading role at Mons International Love Film Festival.

‘Daughter’ also won ‘CinéFemme’ and the International Confederation of Arts and Compilation awards.

‘Daughter’ tells the story of a young girl leaving her hometown in southern Iran, without the consent of her father, on a half day trip to attend a close friend's farewell party. On the way back, hazy weather changes all she's planned.

‘Daughter’ (2015) was nominated for the Best Film and the Best Director awards at the 34th edition of Fajr Film Festival.

In addition to directing, Mirkarimi has been active as a writer and producer.

Launched in 1984, the Mons International Film Festival (French: Festival international du film d'amour de Mons, FIFA) is an annual film festival held in Mons, Belgium.
